The Quest for El Dorado: Promo Pack – Letter of Recommendation is a 2021 promotional expansion for 2–4 players, with a play time of about 60 minutes. It adds three new sets of cards to The Quest for El Dorado, offering new movement conditions and an alternative way to buy cards.

The pack contains 3 Botanist cards, 3 Trail Chart cards, and 4 Letters of Recommendation—one for each player’s starting deck. During setup, play the base game as usual, then place the Botanist and Trail Chart cards in two extra piles above the market board.

Botanist and Trail Chart cards work like the Native. They let you move a number of spaces when each space meets the condition described on the card, such as being a jungle space or having a single symbol. The space requirements are ignored, and these cards can also tear down blockades that match their described conditions.

• Botanist: Three copies added as an extra pile above the market board.
• Trail Chart: Three copies added as another extra pile above the market board.
• Letter of Recommendation: Four copies, added to the players’ starting decks.

Once per game, a player may use their Letter of Recommendation to buy a card from above the market board instead of buying one from the market board. Afterward, remove the Letter of Recommendation from the game and return it to the box.

This promo pack is currently available only with Vincent Dutrait artwork. It is unknown whether Ravensburger will release it with Franz Vohwinkel artwork.
