Unsettled: Scientific Fascinations

Unsettled: Scientific Fascinations is a 2023 board game module for 2–4 players, with a play time of about 90 minutes. It invites players to follow personal curiosity, even when doing so may come at the expense of their crew.

At the start of the game, each player chooses one of eight Fascination boards and attaches it to their player dashboard. These boards introduce a personal track that can compete with the usual pursuit of Comprehensions and Breakthroughs.

Whenever you gain an Insight, you can choose to advance your selected Fascination instead. This creates a meaningful decision: use your developing understanding for the task at hand, or pursue an intriguing question that has occupied your thoughts.

• Choose one Fascination board from eight options.
• Attach it to your player dashboard at the start of the game.
• Advance your Fascination whenever you choose it instead of using a gained Insight otherwise.
• Receive the reward shown on your Fascination board each time you complete its track.

Scientific Fascinations gives intuition and curiosity a direct role in your decisions. Rather than relying on rational thought alone, you can take a gamble on your own interests and use the insights you gain to fill in mysterious gaps.

In Unsettled: Scientific Fascinations, every Insight can support a different ambition. Decide whether the reward of completing your Fascination is worth setting aside progress toward Comprehensions and Breakthroughs.
