Zooloretto: Polar Bear

About this expansion

Zooloretto: Polar Bear is a 2007 expansion for Zooloretto for 2–5 players, with a play time of about 45 minutes. It adds one polar bear tile and a special enclosure rule to the base game.

Play using the normal Zooloretto rules, with one important exception. The first player to fill their 6-space enclosure takes the polar bear enclosure from the middle of the table.

The owner of the polar bear enclosure receives a distinct end-game benefit: they lose only half the normal points for the tiles remaining in their barn. This creates a clear race to complete a six-space enclosure before another player does.

Zooloretto: Polar Bear was given away by Abacus at Spiel 2007 in Essen. The small expansion was created in response to requests for a famous little polar bear living at the Berlin Zoo when Zooloretto was released.

This compact addition keeps the familiar Zooloretto rules while introducing a single race-based objective and a special way to reduce the usual penalty for barn tiles. It is a focused promotional expansion built around one memorable polar bear.
