About this expansion

Neuroshima Hex! Mad Bomber is a single-tile supplement for Neuroshima Hex for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 30 minutes. Released in 2007, it introduces a neutral unit that belongs to no player or army.

In the original Mad Bomber rules, the unit begins on the center hex of the map. If it receives any damage during a battle, it immediately explodes in the same phase. The blast causes one point of damage to units in all six neighboring hexes, while headquarters are excluded.

After the explosion, the bomber is drawn as the first tile by the next player in turn order after the player who caused it to be hit. That player may deploy the bomber on the map again. However, if more than one player hits the bomber during the same initiative phase, it is knocked out of the game.

  • Neutral unit: The bomber belongs to no player or army.
  • Immediate explosion: Taking damage triggers area damage during the same battle phase.
  • Repeat deployment: The next player in turn order can draw and redeploy it after a qualifying hit.
  • Mad Bomber II: This version starts off the board and can be placed by either player by discarding an additional tile.

In Mad Bomber II, either player can discard a tile in addition to their usual discard to place the bomber anywhere on the board. Once eliminated, it may be placed again by either player using the same procedure.

Originally distributed to participants at a Neuroshima Hex tournament during the Pionek convention in Gliwice, Poland, this compact expansion adds a dangerous shared presence to the Neuroshima Hex battlefield.
