About this expansion

Age of Steam Expansion: Sun / London is a two-map expansion for 3–6 players, with a playing time of 120 minutes, released in 2006.

The London map challenges experienced Age of Steam players to balance debt against investment in track. Outrageous real estate prices and union fees make building a railroad network particularly expensive, while Union Overtime Fees add to normal track-building costs.

London also introduces Instant Production. Goods from the production chart are immediately placed in a city where goods were either shipped from or received, creating a distinctive flow of goods across the network.

On the Sun map, players compete within the Solar Energy Commission to build the most extensive and profitable network for mining solar flares and sunspots. Connecting the magnetic vortices of sunspots drains their energy supplies and creates new sunspots in the process.

  • Create towns whenever existing track is upgraded at any location on the map.
  • Move the game’s eight cities to new locations through the Restation action.
  • Increase link capacity to deliver multiple goods during a single delivery.
  • Use Instant Production to make goods appear immediately after a delivery.

With only eight cities that can change position, the Sun map presents a shifting network to manage. Together, the London and Sun maps give Age of Steam Expansion: Sun / London two distinct settings, each with special rules that alter construction, production, and delivery.
