About this expansion

Deep Madness: Rise of Dagon is a 2018 expansion for 1–6 players, with games lasting about 120 minutes. It introduces an ongoing three-scenario campaign in which investigators descend further into a mine plagued by darkness, madness, and the filth within their own minds.

The campaign must be played in order, and its consequences follow the investigators from one game to the next. Search cards, infection cards, filth cards, infection tokens, and filth tokens are carried between scenarios, making each decision part of a longer struggle. It is also possible to slowly lose your humanity throughout Rise of Dagon.

Three new investigators join the fight. Meredith Waite is a celebrity “single mother” who runs the Leng Corporation, Regan is her sheltered but special daughter, and Ward Phillips is a strange writer who appears to have stepped out of another century.

  • Deep Ones: mutated, shambling creatures that were once men and women.
  • Hydras: High Priestesses serving a dark and present power.
  • Shadows of Filth: oozing beings that cling to their matching investigator.
  • Dagon: the demon rising from the darkness within the mind.

Rise of Dagon also adds the Domain and Enlighten mechanic. When an investigator rests during Dagon, they take a Domain card. These cards can provide a benefit paired with a drawback, creating difficult trade-offs; after use, they are wiped clean rather than discarded, allowing them to be built again.

With persistent campaign effects, new horrors, and humanity at stake, Deep Madness: Rise of Dagon extends the descent into a struggle against both external monsters and inner corruption.
