About this expansion

Railroad Tiles: Energy Expansion is an expansion for 1–4 players with a play time of about 30 minutes. Your goal is to create a power grid by building Wind Turbines and using Energy Cables to connect them to Town tiles.

Wind Turbines have their own pin points and can be placed by using any Placement token as a wild card instead of the corresponding standard pawn. Like the special pieces in the Canals and Forest expansions, they add a new way to develop your network.

Energy Cables work like an additional kind of route, but they follow a distinctive path. Rather than crossing the middle of tile sides like railways and highways, cables run across tile corners. Connecting the right corner can link three tiles to the power grid at once, creating new possibilities as well as new complications.

  • Build Wind Turbines using Placement tokens as wild cards.
  • Run Energy Cables across corners to connect turbines and Town tiles.
  • Complete Objectives with specific power-grid requirements.

Wind Turbines do not score points when built. At the end of the game, each Town tile scores 1 point for each 2 Wind Turbines connected to it, so carefully placing Town tiles and routing cables efficiently is essential.

The expansion also includes several Objectives that reward focused construction. For example, the Solar Farm must be connected to Energy Cables on all four corners, while the Casino must have at least 2 electrified Town tiles around it.

In Railroad Tiles: Energy Expansion, the challenge lies in powering as many Town tiles as possible with the fewest cables while managing the shape of your growing network.
