About this expansion

Valeria: Card Kingdoms – Crimson Seas is an expansion for 1–5 players with a 45-minute play time, released in 2019. It sends players beyond Valeria’s borders to explore far-off lands, gather valuable resources, and confront dangers rising from the sea.

A new game board, The Islands, is placed along the top of the play area. To reach these destinations, players must use the new Sail action and spend one Map token. Each island offers a different opportunity, creating new ways to develop your position and earn rewards.

• Araby: gain Goods that can increase your victory points.
• Nae Aerie: obtain powerful Tomes that augment resource production.
• Exekratys: retrieve lost resources.
• Amarynth: rescue captured Nobles from the villainous Amarynth Empire.

The expansion also invites players to plunder the wealth of the Cursed Isle, while sea monsters grow stronger and sow chaos throughout Valeria. These threats add another challenge to journeys across the Crimson Seas.

Crimson Seas introduces new icons, tokens, mechanics, card types, and cards for every existing card type. The result is an expanded Valeria experience centered on sailing, island access, trade Goods, powerful Tomes, lost resources, and rescued Nobles. With its combination of exploration and escalating maritime danger, Valeria: Card Kingdoms – Crimson Seas broadens the possibilities of the card kingdom.
