About this expansion

Zooloretto: Familiarisation Area is a small 2011 promo for Zooloretto, supporting 2–5 players in games lasting about 45 minutes. It adds a dedicated place for one obtained animal that cannot legally fit into a player’s zoo.

When a player takes a delivery truck, an animal with no legal place in the zoo may be placed in the familiarisation area. This area can hold only one animal, so it provides a limited temporary option rather than additional permanent zoo space.

The animal is not locked there for the rest of the game. Players may transfer an animal into or out of the familiarisation area by using the move or exchange remodel actions. These actions give players a way to manage the animal’s position as their zoo develops.

  • Designed as a small promo for Zooloretto
  • Holds a maximum of one animal
  • Accepts an animal that has no legal place in the zoo
  • Allows transfers through move or exchange remodel actions
  • Scores neither points nor penalties for an animal remaining there at game’s end

At the end of the game, an animal in the familiarisation area contributes neither points nor losses. This makes the area a useful holding space for managing difficult deliveries without changing the final score directly.

Zooloretto: Familiarisation Area is also available as part of the Zooloretto: Goodie-Box. Its focused rule addition centers on one simple question: where can an animal go when the zoo has no legal space for it?
