Valeria: Card Kingdoms – Darksworn: Kickstarter Edition is a cooperative saga game for 1–5 players, with games lasting about 45 minutes. Across six book-decks, your group explores the territory west of Valeria while confronting a spreading darkness.

Each book presents a developing story, new rules, and several tasks that must be completed before you can advance. Some rules last only for the current book, while others persist through the unfolding saga, creating an experience somewhat like a legacy game.

The play area resembles a standard game of Valeria: Card Kingdoms, but Darksworn adds a story board above the monster row. This board presents the current book’s story and challenges, displays new rules, and holds citizens captured by monster attacks in a dark oubliette.

• Build effective tableaus of citizens to complete the tasks.
• Defend the decreasing center stacks of citizens, which represent your kingdom’s health.
• Use walls for additional protection against attacking monsters.
• Seek aid on the Blessings Board through devotion to the radiance of Aquila.

The Blessings Board can grant special powers, free captured citizens, and even rebuild fallen walls. However, if any monsters reach the Blessings Board, the entire group loses, making every defensive decision matter.

The Kickstarter Edition includes three expansions not found in the retail edition: The Fire Temple Monsters, The Kaharian Monsters, and The Shade Events. Together with its story-driven books, cooperative objectives, powerful monsters, and persistent developments, Valeria: Card Kingdoms – Darksworn offers a campaign-like journey of wonder, sacrifice, and adventure.
