About this expansion

Keyflower: Developer is a new village tile for Keyflower, a game for 2–6 players with a listed play time of 120 minutes. Released in 2018, this tile adds a focused scoring rule based on the upgrade icons displayed on neighboring tiles.

The Developer rewards careful attention to the tiles placed around it. The player who owns the tile scores points for each upgrade icon found on an adjacent tile, making the surrounding village layout directly relevant to the tile’s value.

Its scoring is straightforward and changes if the Developer itself has been upgraded. The applicable values are:

  • 2 points for each upgrade icon on an adjacent tile when the Developer has not been upgraded.
  • 3 points for each upgrade icon on an adjacent tile when the Developer has been upgraded.

This gives the Developer a clear relationship with nearby tiles that contain upgrade icons. Its owner scores according to those adjacent icons, while upgrading the Developer increases the points awarded for each one.

As a compact addition to Keyflower, the tile is defined by one central interaction: adjacent upgrade icons generate points for its owner. The distinction between the unupgraded and upgraded versions is important, since the score per icon rises from 2 points to 3 points.

Keyflower: Developer is therefore a concise village-tile addition for players looking to use the upgrade icons present in the surrounding layout. It retains a simple scoring condition while providing two clearly stated scoring values based on the Developer tile’s status.
