Cthulhu Wars

About this board game

Cthulhu Wars is a strategy board game for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 120 minutes. Each player commands an alien race or god from H. P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu mythos.

The game unfolds on a map of Earth as factions compete to accumulate points on the Doom Track. A turn begins with players gathering Power, followed by Action Rounds in which they spend that Power to develop their forces and pursue their plans.

• Summon monsters and build Gates
• Cast faction-specific spell books
• Awaken your Great Old One

Every faction has a unique collection of monsters, spell books, special abilities, and requirements for acquiring those spell books. Players must expand their power base while completing six faction-specific tasks, creating multiple strategies within every faction.

Victory depends on more than reaching the top of the Doom Track: the first player to reach 30 Doom is the sole victor only if all six of their spell books have been unlocked. When every player runs out of Power, the Action phase ends and the next turn begins.

With 64 detailed figurines representing Cultists, monsters, aliens, and Great Old Ones, Cthulhu Wars makes a striking tabletop centerpiece. The base game supports four players, while the map supports five; expansions adding factions and maps can increase the player count to eight.
