About this expansion

Age of Steam Expansion: Chile, Egypt and CCCP is a trio of expansions for 3–6 players, with an approximate playing time of 120 minutes. Released by Alban Viard at Essen 2008, this collection brings three markedly different settings and gameplay approaches to the Age of Steam experience.

Chile is a long, narrow map approximately twice the size of a normal expansion. Its defining feature is the presence of extremely valuable gold cubes, creating a distinctive focus for games with 4–6 players.

Egypt introduces two mechanics that substantially alter gameplay: floods and pyramids. Designed for 3–5 players, this expansion stands apart through the significant impact of both systems on how the game unfolds.

CCCP offers a unique new map for 3–6 players, distinguished by its altered victory conditions. It provides another notably different way to approach an Age of Steam game, with success evaluated through a changed set of conditions.

  • Chile: A long, narrow map with highly valuable gold cubes; 4–6 players.
  • Egypt: Flood and pyramid mechanics that substantially change gameplay; 3–5 players.
  • CCCP: A unique map with altered victory conditions; 3–6 players.

With a stated print run of just 120, Age of Steam Expansion: Chile, Egypt and CCCP is a notably limited collection. Together, the three expansions offer contrasting map experiences, from Chile’s unusual scale and gold to Egypt’s transformative mechanics and CCCP’s revised approach to victory.
