About this expansion

Carcassonne: Little Buildings is a 2012 promotional expansion for 2–6 players that adds 18 building tokens to the Carcassonne series. Released with SpielBox magazine issue 5/2012, it introduces houses, sheds, and towers as new ways to mark tiles.

The expansion contains six houses, six sheds, and six towers. At the beginning of the game, each player receives an equal number of these tokens. When placing a token, a player puts it on a tile in place of a meeple, creating an additional scoring consideration across the landscape.

  • 6 house tokens
  • 6 shed tokens
  • 6 tower tokens
  • Tokens are distributed equally among the players
  • A building token replaces a meeple when placed on a tile

When a road, city, cloister, or field is scored, that feature receives 1 additional point for each tile shared with a Little Building. This rule gives the buildings a direct role in scoring and makes the placement of these tokens relevant as features are completed and evaluated.

A variant offers a different way to use the three building types. Under this option, the sheds, houses, and towers are treated differently and provide 1, 2, or 3 additional points when the structures are completed. This creates an alternative scoring approach while using the same set of promotional components.

Whether using the standard rule or the included variant, Carcassonne: Little Buildings adds a compact collection of special tokens and an extra bonus-point system to games for 2–6 players.
