About this expansion

Carcassonne: The Cult is a small expansion for 2–5 players, designed for games lasting around 60 minutes. Released in 2008, it adds five special tiles to the Carcassonne series, each featuring a picture of a Cult.

Cults are comparable to Cloisters, creating a focused contest when the two types of tiles are placed next to one another. Whenever a Cult and a Cloister are adjacent, a challenge begins between the players involved.

The challenge rewards the player who completes the required encirclement first. That player receives 9 points, while the other player receives nothing, making the timing of completion especially important.

  • Includes 5 tiles, each showing a Cult
  • Cults are comparable to Cloisters
  • Adjacent Cult and Cloister tiles begin a challenge
  • The first player to encircle their tile scores 9 points

With its small set of dedicated tiles and clear scoring outcome, this expansion introduces a direct competitive moment to a Carcassonne game. Players must pay attention when a Cult and Cloister become neighbors and consider who can encircle their tile first.

Carcassonne: The Cult is part of the wider Carcassonne series and offers a concise addition centered on Cults, Cloisters, adjacency, and a high-value nine-point result. It is suitable for 2–5 players looking to include this distinctive challenge in their game.
